The Location
Living in Stresa offers a truly unique possibility: just look up to be literally enchanted by the beauty of three small islands, which gently dominate the waters of Lake Maggiore. A small archipelago, or rather, a real paradise.
Isola Bella is perhaps the one that best represents the rich past of these places: right here stands a majestic Baroque-style building, with its very rich interiors and elegant gardens that surround it far and wide.
From the elegant splendor we pass to the silence and charm typical of a tropical land: Isola Madre (the largest of the three) looks like an immense garden in which to admire beautiful animals that live in total freedom and the most beautiful species of plants and flowers. A magical garden is always in bloom, surrounded by the waters of the lake, in the middle of which it is possible to see beautiful and elegant buildings.
The Upper Island, also known as Isola dei Pescatori, is striking for its simplicity and the rustic whiteness of the houses, wrapped in a dense web of alleys that embrace them, just like a mother does with her baby.
But, the scenery that Stresa offers is not limited only to the wonderful Borromean Islands: the wide view of the lake stretches far and wide. On the Lombard shore, the panorama stretches from Cerro and Laveno to the Rocca di Caldè; on the Piedmontese one you can see Punta della Castagnola, Pallanza, and further to the left Monte Rosso up to the Ossola mountains. A magical scenario!
The Surroundings
The wonders of Lake Maggiore do not stop in Stresa, which can be considered as the starting point for a journey through the wonders of Lake Maggiore. Before visiting the shores of the lake and the beautiful locations, a scenic ride on the cable car to Mount Mottarone, which offers beautiful ski slopes, is a must.
Towards the north, beyond Baveno, you quickly reach the city of Pallanza, a quiet tourist center, where you can admire Villa Taranto, internationally known for its wonderful garden, full of flowers and rare plants.
Going further up the lake you will find the beautiful village of Cannero Riviera, appreciated for its sunny position. Just the sun illuminates the ancient fortifications and the Castles of Cannero, which rise on a small archipelago of three islets in front of the town. Continuing on, you enter the last town before the border with Switzerland, the ancient village of Cannobio, which today boasts one of the most beautiful beaches on the lake.
To the south, you reach the city of Arona, a lively tourist and commercial center, from where it is possible to admire, on a spur of rock on the other side of the lake, the Rocca d’Angera, a beautiful medieval building.
In Gignese, however, it is possible to enjoy the incredible panorama of the central basin of Lake Maggiore. Living in Stresa, by purchasing one of the most beautiful houses in the entire Lake Maggiore real estate market, allows you to always make beautiful excursions, even taking advantage of the best periods, and take advantage of the advantages that nearby Milan and Switzerland offer.
